This race proven 32/36 Air horn was designed and optimised by Ellery Motorsport using the latest computer design and simulation software. We ended up with this inlet shape after years of real world racing experience with these Weber 32/36 carburettors and Formula Ford racing in Australia. This particular design was a result of numerous iterations and hours of Dyno and track testing in heavily turbulent intake systems, often found on racing and performance engines.
Using the very latest in material science optimised for aerospace, this air horn is laid up using a computer controlled additive manufacturing process and is made from a lightweight blend of polyethylene terephthalate with a high carbon content for dimensional and thermal stability. Capable of handling motor racing engine bay temps with ease, this material will handle above 240 degrees centigrade, while being far lighter than an aluminium.
This design allows for quick removal of the carb top with a range of smooth notches at critical positions for screwdriver access to the standard top cover bolts.
We opted for a quad-hole bolt pattern with slightly oversized mounting holes, which allows for true alignment to each carb runner at a minimal weight penalty. This small degree of mounting allowance gives the customer the ability to align the horn perfectly to the unique casting of their carb. This is a big deal due to the mass production casting discrepancies found on many Weber 32/36 units.
Some customers are utilising a K&N filter top and this system is still compatible with some minor adjustments to the mounting spacers. You can either grind the supplied mounts down or pack the horn with washers.
